|Abstract:||The present study describes and analyses the Petrobras strategic adaptation process during the period of 1998 to 2007. To understand this process, the internal and external factors that caused organizational and strategic changes in the company were analyzed. This qualitative analysis was developed as a case study, understanding the phenomenon by a longitudinal vision. In this manner, the years from 1998 to 2007 were marked by a sequence of critical events that made the company change. These changes were analyzed based on the content, context and process and showing, respectively, what changed , why it changed and how it changed . This analysis shows the Petrobras strategic adaptation during the period and the consequences of this process, confirming that the business strategy is dynamic in function of the context in which these organizations are inserted.|
