Abstract
The objective of this work is to develop a model to assess council-run schools concerning their adherence to aspects of accessibility. Based on a literature review, conducted methodically in a set of 45 articles systematically selected from the databases SCOPUS and SciELO, we built a research instrument to evaluate the compliance of the council schools with the practices of accessibility. This research, which included 47 variables organized in 6 dimensions, was applied to a sample team composed of 70 professionals working in public schools, all located in the municipality of Juiz de Fora. As a result of the research, it was found that, in the studied sample, the attitudinal and programmatic dimensions are those that showed the highest levels of compliance. On the other hand, the architectural and communicational dimensions were the ones with lower incidence of observation, with highlights for the tactile paving and use of Braille in the classroom criteria as those with lowest scorings. Given the finding of such dichotomy, it seems necessary to point out that such dimensions and criteria should be prioritized in a program that aimed to increase accessibility in the public schools of Juiz de Fora.
