|Abstract:||The main objective of this study is to proceed a detailed analysis of the Products Analysis Program of Inmetro, evaluating its contribution to the consumers and the suppliers of products and services, therefore it is about a governmental initiative financed with public resources that relates several sectors of the society. The Products Analysis Program finds bedding in the concept of asymmetry of information existing between consumers and suppliers, specially harmful to the first ones, being justified, through the reflections of several authors about the subject, its existence and continuity. Its relevance as a factor of incentive to the competitiveness of the national industry was evidenced, in this study, by the research of the impact generated by this activity, translated in improvement actions to the analyzed products and services that aim at the correction of eventual non-conformity to the criteria set in standards and technical regulations related to health and safety. The obtained results demonstrate its strategic relevance to the society.|
