ENTRE O QUILOMBO E A CIDADE : TRAJETÓRIAS DE INDIVIDUAÇÃO DE JOVENS MULHERES NEGRAS
Abstract
The present study considered the education and work paths trailed by young black quilombola women, with the intent of providing comprehension of the dimensions of the lives of the young women from the rural areas nowadays, when they have to deal with the intensification of material and symbolic interchange between the city and the rural areas. The dilemma that has been haunting the lives of many of these women is based on their need to make a career choice, as it implicates having to decide between staying or leaving their family obligations and relations. This choice becomes a relevant factor in tracing their life projects, as the decision of going to the city widens their relationship nets, and brings new possibilities of social insertion. It was observed that the fluid and non-definitive coming and going of these young women between their home communities and the cities close by is based on the precarious and temporary life and work conditions in the city, and also because of the material and symbolic resources that they inherit, which are not sufficient do guarantee an entrance into the urban life compatible with their schooling levels. Making use of categories such as project and possibilities field, by Velho Gilberto, the intent is to understand the process of identization (Melucci e Martuccelli) in which the young women are involved during their course between the quilombo and the city. This dissertation is based on observations e stories of three young women who live in São José Quilombo, located in the back lands of Rio de Janeiro. Their doubts and conflicts allow us to reflect about the link between tradition, territory, individuation processes and the gaining of autonomy. The premise that heterogeneity of life and work conditions that the young people who live in the rural areas are subjected to configure differentiated ways of life constitutes distinct collective experiences and identities, orients the analyses in the present study. The research collected marcs of it s biographic trajectory with the intent of realizing the life projects that the young quilombola women subjected to the study made, and the relations between space mobility and the individuation and identization processes.
