Autoria e construção da identidade cabo-verdiana : diálogos entre a obra de Germano Almeida e o discurso parlamentar

Abstract

This dissertation intends to relate capeverdean cultural identity to literature. From 1460 to 1975 there was a melting pot society in process in Cape Verde, which is shown by this essay, in the historical, political, and cultural points of view. The so called Morabeza is a kind of behaviour and feeling made in Cape Verde that means tenderness and hospitality with foreigners. Cape Verdeans are very open minded to new deals and agree they all build their country, together, day by day, by facing their natural and historical conditions. And literature has been able to portray these cultural skills and to share the capeverdean cultural icons above the world. By focusing on What Morabeza means exactly, the essay will point out what means exactly to be a Cape Verdean and how literature icons are among Members of Parliament s speeches. What do politicians have in common to Literature as far as identity is concerned and how all these questions are shown in Germano Almeida and O Meu Poeta. This dissertation tries to follow these steps, by relating the novel to Cape Verdean identity icons portrayed by Claridade, its previous and post writers, in one hand, as well as the reports (called Actas das Sessões ) of the celebration day of the independence (July 5th). A double face analisis between Literature and Textual Criticism deals with new conception of Author and identitity and calls attention to patrimony care of capeverdean culture. It also calls the attention to the linguistic condition and its effects on cultural identity from now to the future. .
