Abstract: This study presents securitization in Brazil through FIDC (Fundos de Investimento em Direitos Creditórios, or Securitization Investment Funds) as a proper means for fund raising in brazilian capital markets, accessible by different economic agents. The study initially shows an overview of securitization, its beginning and developments in the US and in Brazil. Then it lays down the basic structure of the FIDC, presents its participants and analyses related laws and regulations, including the role of the brazilian regulator (CVM - Comissão de Valores Mobiliários, the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission) for the development of such regulations. Finally, the study displays statistic data related to FIDC market, and present two case studies, in which small, medium and big companies, including Petrobras, benefit from the use of FIDC
