Abstract: The objective of this work is the accomplishment of an exercise of strategic planning in a basic sanitation company, analyzing and adapting the strategic management process to a sustainable strategic management process. Were used like instruments of this works different concepts associated to strategic planning and sustainable development. A proposal sustainable balanced scorecard was built using information of ProLagos S.A, information acquire through interviews and questionnaires applied in different sectors of the company , the mean of this questionnaires was to know how was doing the strategic planning in the company and also how the relation of this strategic planning with the concepts related to the sustainable development definition. The implementation of a strategic planning that will include the social and environmental aspects has to include the external and internal stakeholders. Can be conclude that do not exists one specific or superior tool or methodology to implement a sustainable strategic planning, exists commons concepts to be applied to obtain a appropriate strategic planning. In spite of the consensus about the importance assessment systems, culture and values influence organizational behavior, one question remains without an answer, company staff participation in the strategic planning process, is not reason to reach the company strategic objectives, a engagement process is also need it
