Abstract
This study focuses on analyses on projects of internalization of the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), at the upstate of Rio de Janeiro and its influence on the regional and local development where those are based. Those projects consist on graduation courses and are part of the process of decentralization assured to society by the 1988‟s Constitution thought teaching activities, research and extension of Federal Institution of Higher Education (IFES). The administration course installed in Itaperuna will be the reference of this study that verifies local development under the social responsibility and sustainability criteria and the perception of those before society where it is installed, characterizing the social role of university within the local community. A bibliographic research to getter historical and updated data was held to theoretically justify the work and to support the central statement of the research which involves concepts of social responsibility and sustainability and their respective criteria of evaluation. The planed methodology to this study involves an exploratory, descriptive and documental approach with bibliographic research and applied questionnaires to responsible agents of the involved organs on the process of internalization. Direct data will be search with the university, Itaperuna‟s City Hall, municipal departments, associations and federations located in the municipality with direct or indirect participation on the course. The objectivity of this study is to present a diagnostic based on the criteria of sustainability about the perceptions of the local society related to the contribution of the unit of the Administration Course of UFF installed in Itaperuna since 1993 and its relation with local district development.
