Abstract
In this paper we have analyzed from a glotopolitical approach and based on the argumentation theory apologetical texts written in Spanish. We have observed some arguments such as the unity of the Spanish language, the quantity of people who speak that language, its international relevance etc. We have noticed that there is no neutral discourse, and that behind the discourses supporting that language lies a political interest undertaken by both the Spanish government and by linguists related to Spanish institutions that try overvalue that language so that it can be influent enough to stand out in an international linguistic scenario. These policies to spread the Spanish language all over the world bring consequences to the language teaching process and can change the processes of planning corpus and status of that language at international levels, changing also the relationship with other languages.
