Abstract
Presents considerations about the obstacles and possible negative impacts of policies
neoliberal public implanted in Brazilian public universities in the number of
federal employees, cutting as an example a case study on the number of
Librarians Library Central Gragoatá (BCG), Universidade Federal Fluminense
(UFF), since 1994 (the year of its foundation) until 2011. Used as a methodological concept
mediation in the informational field which has several approaches, by virtue of which was
conducted literature. The other methodological procedures were:
analysis of federal law governing the education issue, notably in the University
Brazil, the production of statistical data, analysis of records and books and point
open interview with the head of that university library. Cross-analysis of the data
and reflection obtained by applying the theoretical allowed a clearer
historical processes linked to the university library, especially those which are
confined to the political and legal frameworks of government programs as the visible face of
neoliberal program, which, among other effects, are decreasing the number of
librarians. Clarifies that the purpose of this theme is only an approximation of reality,
considering that this is a very complex and dynamic
