O Brasil e a República Dominicana: a participação do Brasil no governo do Marechal Presidente Castello Branco, 1965/1966

Abstract

The present work searchs to analyze relative the power to decide process to the Brazilian participation in the Inter-American Force of Peace, which acted in the Dominican conflict in 1965. In this direction, we observe from the dynamics of performance of the theories of the imperialism, the Brazilian insertion in the international scene, the scope of the Organization of the American States, as well as in national scope, through the debates occurred in the press and the National Congress. The research and analyzes of the diverse data collected in made possible them to conclude that Brazil, although to have if atrelado to the lines of direction of the American external politics of the period, searched to create areas of maneuver and relative independence how much to the North American pressures. Such fact is corroborated with the refusal given for the government Castello Branco the pressures for sending of troops to the Asian Southeast, with the intention of assisting the United States of America in the Vietnamese conflict
