Abstract
The world has shown a troubling scenario of potable water consumption by population
growth, irrigation of agricultural areas and mainly use in industrial processes. In the
case of industrial processes realizes that there is a possibility of contributing to the
development of sustainable management of water resources, as some companies are
already taking steps to reuse water, which is a practical result of the overall program
of planned water reuse spearheaded by the United Nations and the World Health
Organization. The objective is to encourage the reuse of water in industries, through
the release of a case study of water reuse in a lubricating oil manufacturer with results
achieved cost reduction for industry and reduce consumption of finite resource water.
In this case study, water reuse is demonstrated by detailing the phases of treatment
that the water used in the manufacturing process of lubricating oil, is submitted and
the subsequent use of treated water in a sanitary discharge system. The results
achieved are reduction in cost to the industry of freshwater consumption in 8194
m3/month approximately equivalent to 98,328 m³ per year, times the average cost in
m3/month CEDAE R $ 11.591, amount to a total of R $ R $ 113.971.92 per / year,
which means even a total savings of R $ 227,943.84 / year, taking into account the
elimination of payment of the sewer CEDAE.
