A atuação política da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil durante o Governo Geisel

Abstract

Analysis of the Order of Lawyers of Brazil - Brazilian Bar Association - and the various relationships that occurred between March 15, 1974 to March 15, 1979 - during which the country was headed by General Ernesto Geisel - affecting in any way the legal profession. From the examination of records, legal texts and other official documents associated with the reading of the Jornal do Brazil, daily newspaper printed, and books relevant to the subject is made possible case study showing how the OAB is positioned within the period mentioned. The study has the aim to analyze: the elections of the Federal Council of OAB, and establish government policy as reflected in internal staff of the institution, the public policies that Geisel had a direct relationship with the lawyers, the democratic resistance exerted by the OAB and other institutions civil society and the use of violence by extremists as a way to curb political detente, political agenda formulated by Geisel, international relations involving the U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and finally reflect on the dissatisfaction of members with the attitude the direction of the OAB
