|Abstract:||This paper aims to present suggestions for improvements in the quality of life of workers in the nuclear industry, from the psychosocial intervention targeted for professionals in the Institute for Nuclear Research of Rio de Janeiro. This choice was due to the observation made daily with workers exposed to great emotional tension in the performance of their duties during the radiation accident occurred in Goiânia in 1987, a fact which required each employee develop by themselves their fears and anxieties, lacking of psychosocial support. The chosen methodology refers to the exploratory / descriptive through action research, in order to get a better interaction and cooperation of the participants in the data collection. Thus, the research instrument was a questionnaire with structured questions, in order to meet the public's perception studied in relation to occupational health and psychosocial assistance offered by the institution. Research has his character with application purpose of generating improvements in the quality of life of employees of the Group Emergency Response Radiological and Nuclear, as well as any other area that is involved in attending accidents in the nuclear area, as military and civilian professionals in the area health. According to the results obtained evidenced that both civilian workers and the military did not have preventive care focused on the mental health of the worker, with the exception of the Military Police who have psychosocial continuous for all your cash. Another factor is that the professionals surveyed mostly are nearing retirement, which characterizes a population experienced and successful professionally, of which 87.5% point as needed psychosocial assistance directed at workers because the need for action secure and balanced handling of equipment, where any fault can cause serious damage to the worker and his team. This reinforces the relevance of this study to the area intended.|
