Abstract
This work aims at presenting stages of the process of climate management in organizations,
emphasising the diagnosis phase, in which the author introduces an instrument of survey of
organizational climate whose design is based on a research study in national and international
organizations in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Besides providing guidelines for the
management of organizational climate, the author also suggests procedures to make
improvements of the work environment, focusing on some critical aspects which may impair
the process. This study also examines the most relevant strategies for diagnosis of
organizational climate and analyzes the steps organizations should take in order to design,
apply, and treat the results of surveys of organizational climate. Moreover, the present
research work points out useful improvement strategies as well as practical suggestions used
by organizations which have been ranked among the best places to work.
