|Abstract:||Transparency is a core principle of the World Trade Organization WTO, including the objective to minimize technical barriers to the international commerce. Country members this organization presume that the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade, on account of containing detailed transparency obligations and for requiring notifications of new regulatory measures, forewarns the exporters greater expectation security related to their investments. Besides that the regulatory authorities should be encouraged to analyse possible effects of standardization on trade. This work represents the result of lessons learned through bibliography and documentary research about technical barriers to trade and of a national case study, which examines specific questions on market access from information which influences competitiveness of exports, resulting from foreign technical requirements which should be complied by Brazilian exporters. It is expected to contribute to the analysis and identification market access difficulties and their qualitative impacts on competitiveness. It is hoped that this study increases the knowledge of how the transparency principle can affect exports|
